This page explains how you can apply for a visa to come to Sierra Leone if you are currently in Australia. All dependants who are travelling must pay the application fee, whether or not they are included in the main applicant’s passport.

Passports

In accordance with policies and procedures of the government of Sierra Leone passports can only be issued or renewed by the Department of Immigration in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

How to Apply

To apply for a visa you must:

  • Complete and submit a visa application form in duplicate (see forms) together with your passport
  • Include 2 passport size photos
  • Include a copy of a certificate showing proof of compulsory vaccinations: cholera, yellow fever and Hepatitis A. 
  • For Australian passport holders $179
  • For Non-Australian passport holders $358
  • For urgent Visa applications (within 72 hours) an additional $100 per Visa
  • Payment will only be accepted if made by a bank cheque or a postal order in favour of Consulate General Of the Republic of Sierra Leone
  • Allow 27 days (non urgent applications) for the application to be processed
  • Include a self addressed return “Express Post, with signature on delivery” envelope for the return of your passport and documentation. 
  • Send all documents to: The Consulate General of Sierra Leone, Level 6, 16 O’Connell Street
    Sydney NSW 2000 Australia using “Express Post, with signature on delivery” from Australia Post. Passports and documents cannot be collected from the Consulate in person.
  • A consulate officer will only return calls to provide information which is not provided on our website.
  • Calls inquiries about the status and timing of a visa application will ONLY be returned if its outside the 21 days from the date received or the three working days in the URGENT application category.
